I have to seriously remind myself several times a day that I will survive not getting to Vegas for Affiliate Summit this next week. The official Summit kicks off Sunday, but attendees have been comparing notes at ABW for weeks and the heavy-duty “Twitter me, call me, PM me, email me” connections are being finalized as we speak.
One year ago, the Vegas Aff Summit was my first. Technically, since we missed Summit East in Miami because we were moving, and now we’re missing Summit West because of DH’s broken hip, I guess it was also my last. So far, anyway. We are already making our plans for Boston in August, the chosen site for Affiliate Summit East 08 in August.
I’ll be following the fun via Twitter all the rest of this week and all of next week until everyone makes it home and unpacked. I have Twitter set up via IM instead of my phone to save on our texting plan. Last year, in Vegas, the Twitter experiment worked so well that we increased out text messaging plan way upwards. I even turned my phone off whenever I felt like I could live for an hour or two without knowing exactly where everyone else was standing.
One last note: I’m not seriously low on swag yet here at home, but I don’t know if I can make it until August on my pen and sticky note collection. I definately need more tee shirts. So if anyone going to Vegas is planning to be picky about what they carry home, my suggestion would be you send a boxful my way. Just sayin’.
